Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Hot Metal Math mobile app ("the app") handles information. The app is provided by Athol Ironworks LLC ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].
Summary
- No account or sign-in. We run no servers for the app and do not receive what you store in it.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device data (described below).
- Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your card details.
Information stored on your device
Your favorites, notes, custom steels, heat-treat log, soak-time settings and app preferences (for example, that you accepted the disclaimer and whether Pro is unlocked) are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us. Deleting the app's data or uninstalling the app removes them.
Notifications
The temper timer schedules local notifications on your device to tell you when a cycle ends. They are created on the device; no notification data is sent to us. You can turn notifications off in your phone's settings.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. The app requests non-personalized ads only. Even so, Google's ad services may collect and process information from your device, such as device identifiers (including the advertising ID), IP address, approximate location derived from IP, ad interactions, and diagnostic, crash and performance data, to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see them, and prevent fraud and abuse. Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), you are asked for consent through Google's consent message before ads load, and you can change your choice later.

Unlocking Pro, or a supporter tip of $10 or more, removes ads.
In-app purchases
Pro and optional tips are bought through Google Play or the Apple App Store and processed under their terms and privacy policies. We do not receive your name, card or payment details. The app only receives confirmation from the store of which products you own, so it can unlock Pro or restore a purchase.
Contacting us
If you use "Contact us" in the app, your email app opens a message to us that is pre-filled with the app version, your device model and operating system version, to help with troubleshooting. You can edit or delete that text before sending. If you send it, we receive your email address and whatever you write, use it only to reply and improve the app, and delete it when no longer needed.

Source links in the app open in your browser. Those websites have their own privacy policies.
Age
The app is a heat-treating reference intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices: deleting data and opting out
- On-device data: clear the app's storage (Android: Settings → Apps → Hot Metal Math → Storage → Clear data) or uninstall the app.
- Advertising ID: reset or delete it in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- Consent: where a consent message was shown, you can review your choice again from it.
- Ads entirely: unlock Pro.
- Emails you sent us: ask us at the address above to delete them.
We don't sell personal information. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal information; contact us to use them. For data held by Google, use Google's tools linked above.
Security
Data you store in the app stays on your device, protected by your device's security. Communication with Google's ad and store services uses encryption in transit.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date.
